I decided to increase the scale of the set so the liquid sim could form properly. The original scale of the set was quite small.
The crumbs themselves went through multiple iterations. To start off with I used an explosion Sim on a Sphere. This effect which was very simple couldn't be affected by velocity and physics.
The next version was made with Cellular Fracture, which was an add on in Blender that generates a fractured cube. I decided not to use this as the cells that are created by this add on are not solid shapes.
The liquid Sim for some reason was not working correctly over multiple tests so I stopped working with it and focused on getting the crumbs to look nice.
Below is a video of how the crumb ram, Which was the most functional way to get a crumb projectile.
Here is the sim working in Scene:
The props on the table help to slow own the crumbs on table.
Max wanted me to try using soft bodies instead which make an object more sticky. I attempted this but Ridgid Bodies and Soft Bodies do not work in the same way. For some reason my ram would not affect the soft bodies and the soft bodies would hit the table in a mysterious way. They would hit the surface then they would enter their own orbit, flying of the table in a spiral like fashion. It was odd and I could find a way at the time to fix it.
Then a curve ball hit. I was told a reference of what Max wanted to see and I had been going about the sim the wrong way. In reality Max wanted something similar to this:

This is the infamous Light Speed scene from the even more infamous Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Here we see the Star Destroyer getting Destroyed.
Max wanted the crumbs to hit the surface of the table and spread out.
I broke down the scene and tried to replicate it in Blender. I was not Successful. So I gave the Scene to Becca to see if she could get better results. Sadly this was a no go too.
So we reverted to changing the shot from a 3d scene to a 2d Scene. In the end It looks pretty good.
If I had known about the reference earlier I could of made something. But there isn't many tutorials on how to make a cough sim on the internet. I tried following Explosion Sims and Debris Sims but there was nothing I could find that could help. Maybe next time ill try a deeper dive and try and look for better keywords.
