FAIRY BREAD PRODUCTIONS

Summary:
This report covers 3 weeks of VFX work and R&D.
In the first week I wanted to learn the best way to do water simulations. The scenes in mind for the water sims were the following:
- Slight bathroom overflow at the beginning
- Slow water rising in the restaurant.
- Rough water rising in the restaurant.
- Splashing into the restaurant bathroom.
At first I was aiming for every scene using particle based water sims as the water would interreact with 3d surfaces. As later into R&D this would turn out to be the wrong way to go.
My team started off looking for as many tutorials as we could find. Below is every water tutorial documented so far in APA formatting.

With these tutorials, I manage to narrow down what we will use in the Animation.
- Bathroom/Restaurant bathroom will use Particle Animations (Real Water Sims).
- Water below the table before Pavo's Extreme breakdown will use water effects from 'Water Simulations Are OBSOLETE (kinda)' tutorial. (Fake Water).
- Water in Pavo Extreme Breakdown and running to the bathroom will be made with water from the 'Making an animated toon water shader for Eevee | Blender 2.8 Tutorial' Tutorial. (Fake Water).
- Textures for fake water could be made from the 'Making an animated toon water shader for Eevee | Blender 2.8 Tutorial' Tutorial.
From the list its seems that Blender and Houdini are the two major places for which to develop water simulations. Maya has very limited tutorials. But we will see what we can do with it.
Here's what we have been doing.
Ian and I have been making tests in Blender with huge success. before the 20th we have made 2 final rendered shots with 3 other tests.
I also have been learning Blender for this project.
Becca has been working on Water Sims in Maya with Bifrost. Its also looking good.
Vinnie has been looking up water tutorials for Maya, He couldn't find any tutorials that weren't behind pay wall.
Tasks before next report:
- Finalize what Render App we are using (Blender/Maya).
- Wait for the script to be finalised.
- Figure out what other VFX shots need to be made.
